How do I get places

Plan your journey

Think about the start and end points of your journey, then use apps and websites to help you plan your journey. Suffolkonboard journey planner can help with this:

Using the journey planner

Put the start and end points of your journey, along with the time you want to leave or arrive and it will help show you the best options.
It allows you to check bus and train routes, as well as walking and cycle routes.
Don’t forget to include the time it will take you to get to the bus stop or train station. We all move at different speeds so what works for you might not work for your friends

Timetables

Buses and trains run to timetables. Timetables tell you the name of a stop which usually gives the name of a road or landmark where the bus stop is, and the times the buses or trains will arrive at that stop.

How to use timetables

You look down the timetable to see if the bus or train stops where you need it to travel too. This helps you work out if you have the timetable for the right direction of travel, and to see when you need to catch the bus or train to arrive at your destination when you need too. Bus timetables and train timetables can be found on Suffolkonboard. Bus and train operator’s will also have this information on websites and apps. The diagram on the left explains the information found on a Timetable.
To find out your local bus or train operator, use Suffolkonboard. Then visit the operator’s website to check it they have an app. An app may help you find local services, track live buses and trains and buy tickets.
